ALUMINIUM Pyrocatechol Violet ( PCV ) Method

Range: 0.01 – 0.5 mg/L Al 3+

PRINCIPLE:

The automated procedure for the determination of Aluminium is based on the reaction to produce a colored complex . Pyrocatechol violet-aluminium complex is buffered at PH 6.0-6.1, where it has an optimal color development.
The interference of Iron is masked by reducing Fe(III) to Fe(II) with hydroxylamine hydrochloride and by subsequent chelation of Fe(II) with ortophenantrolina.

The color intensity is measured at 585 nm
